Hand-Pounded Rice!- Time to make a change!

Sambar and Rice is a staple for many Indians!  I am very proud to be an Indian for its rich wisdom and many hidden treasures.    Modern rice and wheat have come a loong way from its natural properties way too much!  We might be one of the few indian families who are living without the modern rice.    The ancient rice has the wonderful aroma and fiber on its skin with the bran still attached.  The modern rice that is sold on grocery stores and served at restaurants are not even rice, its just carbs!

I am writing this post to propose an alternate, find handpounded Rice preferably organic.   I get Ponni hand-pounded rice or Sonamasoori hand-pounded rice.

How to make?

Soak required quantity of rice for about an hour.

  • Pressure cook 1 rice : 3.5 cups of water - Cook on medium for 5 whistles
  • simply boil 5 cups of water and add rice to open pot, this might take loonger but its worth waiting.    Pour the rice on a sieve and use the water to treat some ailments if needed or simply drain the extra carb.
  • Instapot - Cook on high pressure for about 30 mins
  • Rice cooker - 1 rice to 3.5 cups water

Happy Healthy Living!
